How It Works
Finding Reviews & Intel
Search by Airport
Use the search bar on the homepage or in the navigation menu to find an airport. You can search by IATA code (e.g., ATL), ICAO code (e.g., KJFK), city name, or airport name. Suggestions appear as you type.
Browse Categories
Select from Hotels, FBOs, Restaurants, Car Rentals, or Layover Activities. Each category page shows all reviewed locations with crew-reported amenities and ratings. You can also browse categories directly from the navigation menu.
Filter & Sort
Narrow results by state, sort by rating or recency, and filter by crew-specific amenities. For hotels, filter by shuttle service, crew rates, blackout curtains, and more. For FBOs, filter by crew car availability, 24/7 service, and catering. All filters update results instantly.
Read Detailed Reviews
Tap on any listing to see detailed reviews from fellow crew members, including category-specific details like noise levels, bed quality, shuttle availability, and photos.
Airport Pages
When you search for an airport, you get a dedicated airport page showing everything nearby in one place.
- •Top Rated - The highest-rated hotels, FBOs, restaurants, and rental car services near the airport are shown at the top for a quick overview.
- •Filter by Category & Distance - Switch between All, Hotels, FBOs, Restaurants, and Rentals. Filter by distance (5, 10, 20, or 30 miles) and sort by rating, distance, or recency.
- •Layover Intel - Scroll down on any airport page to find crew-recommended layover activities, including museums, parks, fitness centers, and more.
How to Submit a Review
There are two ways to submit reviews, depending on how much detail you want to include.
Quick Log (30 seconds)
The fastest way to log your experience. Perfect for when you want to leave a rating right after a stay.
Select a Category
Choose Hotels, FBOs, Restaurants, or Car Rentals.
Find the Location
Start typing the business name and select it from the suggestions. The address is filled in automatically.
Rate & Submit
Give an overall star rating, optionally mark crew-friendliness and whether you'd return, then submit. You can also save as a draft to finish later.
Full Review (detailed)
For a comprehensive review with category-specific fields. Use the "Add Review" button or visit the full review form.
- •Hotels - Rate sleep quality, noise level, blackout curtains, shower, Wi-Fi, breakfast, shuttle, crew rates, laundry, parking, room temperature, and more.
- •FBOs - Rate service speed, crew car availability, hangar space, crew lounge quality, 24/7 service, catering, staff attitude, and crew vs. passenger focus.
- •Restaurants - Rate food quality, service speed, portion size, price point, and note dietary options (vegetarian, vegan, healthy, gluten-free) and takeout quality.
- •Car Rentals - Rate rental process speed, vehicle condition, pricing transparency, after-hours access, FBO delivery, crew rates, and upsell pressure.
Both review types support photo uploads to help other crew members see what to expect.
Layover Activities
Discover and share things to do during your layovers. Browse activities by category and find hidden gems near any airport.
Browsing Activities
- •Search by airport to see nearby activities organized by category: Aviation, Outdoors, Fitness, Culture, and Essentials.
- •Filter by how much time you have available and maximum distance from the airport.
- •Each activity card shows estimated drive time, activity duration, total time needed, and distance from the airport.
- •Activities submitted at nearby airports (within 30 miles) automatically appear in your search results. These are labeled with a "Near [airport code]" badge, and the drive time is estimated based on the distance from the airport you searched.
Adding Activities
- •Submit museums, parks, fitness centers, aviation attractions, and other local finds.
- •Include the estimated time needed, your reported drive time from the airport, a description, and crew-specific tips (parking info, crew discounts, etc.).
- •Upload up to 5 photos to help others know what to expect.
- •For dining recommendations, please use the Restaurant review form instead.
Voting
Upvote activities you enjoyed or downvote ones that didn't meet expectations. Activities with more upvotes are highlighted as "Recommended" to help other crew members find the best spots.
Amenity Tags & Filtering
CrewIntel tracks crew-specific amenities based on what reviewers report. When 50% or more of reviews mention an amenity, it appears as a tag on the listing.

Understanding Ratings
Exceptional - Highly recommended for crew
Very Good - Solid choice with minor issues
Average - Acceptable but not ideal
Below Average - Has significant issues

After signing in, your Dashboard tracks your contributions and unlocks badges as you contribute.
- •Contribution Stats - See your total reviews, published reviews, drafts, and how many airports you've covered.
- •Badges - Earn badges for milestones: Founding Contributor, Review All-Star (10+ reviews), Category Expert (5+ in one category), and Photographer (5+ reviews with photos).
- •My Reviews - View, edit, or manage all your submitted and draft reviews in one place.
Use CrewIntel on Your Phone
CrewIntel is designed as a Progressive Web App, so you can add it to your phone's home screen for an app-like experience.
- •Add to Home Screen - On iPhone, tap the Share button and select "Add to Home Screen." On Android, tap the browser menu and select "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen."
- •Quick Log Shortcut - Visit crewintel.net/quick-log and add it to your home screen for a dedicated one-tap shortcut to log reviews.
- •Works Offline - Reviews submitted while offline are saved automatically and synced when you're back online.
